BWML buys Cowroast Marina

We are pleased to announce that BWML completed its purchase of property and business of Cowroast Marina on 22 September 2011.

Charles Day will be overseeing the management of Cowroast Marina as part of our Southern marinas group.

The marina was built in 1980 and provides 116 high quality moorings with a range of complementary services including chandlery, fuel sales and brokerage.  Each marina berth is to a fixed timber jetty with electricity and water.

The marina has a fully equipped wet dock and workshop which is operated by Darren Killick and which will be unaffected by the sale.

We now operate 20 marinas across the UK providing over 3,200 berths for all types of craft.  Cowroast Marina will complement our existing marinas on the Grand Union Canal at Apsley near Hemel Hempstead and Packet Boat near Uxbridge.  The marina fits well with our existing portfolio and we aim to carry on the good work of the previous owners by continuing to deliver a first class facility for our customers to enjoy the use of their craft.

The acquisition follows the stated aims of BWML to grow our business both organically and by acquisition.  This allows us to return a consistent long term stream of dividend income to our holding company, British Waterways.
