Glasson Basin Marina : Notice to Mariners

SAFETY ALERT NAVIGATION WARNING - WALNEY OFFSHORE WIND FARM

The attached SAFETY ALERT Navigation Warning has been issued by Walney Traffic advising that there is a possibility that the ‘DINO SHELLS’ could become detached from the Turbine Blades. See the Warning Notice

ALL NON WIND FARM TRAFFIC ARE ADVISED TO MAINTAIN A DISTANCE OF AT LEAST 200 METERS FROM ANY/ALL OF THE WIND TURBINES AT THE WALNEY OFFSHORE WIND FARM UNTIL YOU HAVE BEEN INFORMED DIFFERENTLY.

For your clarification a "DINO SHELL" is a retro fit to the turbine blade that improves the wind flow. Walney Traffic have attached a picture of one in a pdf document, but unfortunately there is no scale attached.

If you are unsure or require any further information about any of this SAFETY ALERT please do not hesitate in contacting either me or the Walney Traffic Marine Co-ordinator who’s number is on the Navigation Warning.

53° 58’964 N  002° 56’770 W

The River Lune South Bank buoy has been recovered and brought into Glasson for refurbishment.

This notice thereby cancels River Lune NtoM 004-2012.

NOTICE TO MARINERS NO.018-2011

River Lune - Glasson Dock-Dock Gate winter opening.
Mariners be advised that as from 1st November 2011 the Dock Gate will only be manned, as a matter of course, on one tide per day. That tide will be high water nearest to midday. Any vessels wishing to enter or leave the Port outside these tides will have to contact the Harbour Master by telephone on 01524 751724 or 07910 315606 and give at least 12(twelve) hours notice of arrival or departure. This notice can only be given in normal office hours ,i.e. between 0900 and 17.00 hrs Monday to Friday.

Please note that should any vessels/yachts arrive without prior notice and moor on the East or North Wall berths the Lancaster Port Commission will not accept any responsibility for any loss or damage that could occur to the vessels
