Hull Marina Local Information
Beverley Guildhall (8 miles)
It was none other than Guiseppe Cortese that decorated the stunning ceiling of Beverley Guildhall. Features such as this have ensured that this seat of local government is a grade 1 listed building. Beverley’s history, together with that of its environs, is detailed in two exhibition rooms. Open to the public on Fridays, these rooms are augmented by a fine Mayor’s Parlour and a sandstone portico inspired by the Temple of Apollo.

Elsham Hall Gardens and Country Park (10 miles)
Philanthropists Captain Elwes and his wife created Elsham Hall’s attractive lakeside gardens. Their plan was to help boost appreciation of arts, crafts and natural history. As such there’s an animal farm and a butterfly garden in addition to an impressive arboretum. There are more modern features too like an adventure playground, a sensory garden and lakes with both trout and carp.

Underground RAF Bunker Tours (16 miles)
Appearances can be deceptive, as you’ll find out at RAF Holmpton’s Underground Bunker Tour. What initially seems like a small, quaint guard room-cum-cottage turns out to be just the tip of an ultra-secure, underground figurative iceberg. In fact, the underground facility covers a similar floor space as a modern supermarket, yet it’s so well concealed and is so secret that even few Withernsea locals knew of its existence until recently. The bunker was opened to the public in 2004 and the organised, guided tours offer a fascinating insight into this command centre, the cold war and more.
