Suggested Cruises from Packet Boat Marina
Brentford
Brentford is 12.5 miles from the marina although, with 12 locks to navigate, it can take 4-5 hours. However, once you arrive you will find 14 day visitor mooringd and access tot he River Thames through Thames Lock. Call 0208 568 2779 to check lock opening times and tides. Brentford is undergoing a large regeneration project, particularly focussing around the canal, with great bars and restaurants opening and plenty of places to stock up on groceries.
Camden Lock (via Little Venice and Regent's Park)
An easy 20 mile cruise with not a single lock gate in sight, this journey takes you in to the heart of London's canal network. The Pool in Little Venice is surrounded by great Regency architecture. The visitor moorings by the old Toll House are available free of charge for 14 days. From here you can wander in to the new developments around Paddington Basin or hit the shops in Bayswater. Continue your cruise through Regent's Park, with the canal wandering through the middle of London Zoo - the aviary sits on the canalside. Camden Market is a vibrant bustling scene with cafes and bars and market stalls selling everything from jewellery to hand blown glass, diverse music stalls and ethnic food stands. The famous Jongleurs comedy club sits in the middle of the market and is well worth a night out. 14 day visitor moorings available.
London Ring
For those of you wanting to really see London\'s waterways and with a little more time to spare, the London Ring is a must. The loop takes you through Little Venice, Regents Park and Camden to Limehouse Marina. From Limehouse you venture out through the lock on to the tidal River Thames and make your way past famous London landmarks such as the London Eye, the Houses of Parliament and Tower Bridge. Locking back in at Brentford you then continue back to Packet Boat. The Ring usually takes 4 days (it is 55 miles!)- but if you have the time it is worth spending longer and stopping off at the many visitor moorings along the route.
