Welcome to
Sawley Marina
Sawley Marina is located on a navigational cut of the River Trent near Long Eaton, Nottingham and is the largest Inland Marina in the United Kingdom, with a water space of 23 acres. Quality flood protected moorings with electricity and water at each location are provided for 600 boats and works are taking place to take this total to 700 by the early part of 2009.
The superb amenities for the boater on site include accessible car parking, storage facilities at some of the mooring sites, CCTV, security gates to the piers, 24 hour emergency callout. All of this make Sawley Marina the first choice for value for money moorings in the Midlands.
On site you will find the excellent Chandlery and stores with over 4000 sq ft of merchandise to fulfil every boaters needs. The shop stocks over 10,000 lines with everything from an anchor to a windlass, from books to offshore clothing and outboard engines to groceries and gifts. You don't have to be a boater to find a need to visit this superb shop where you'll find a friendly helpful informed service, 7 days a week.
If it is a boat you are looking to purchase then Sawley Marina's brokerage team will probably have what you are looking for. This well respected boat sales operation provides a first class service whether you are buying or selling a boat. From time to time boats need service and repair and it is then that you can turn to JBJ Marine or Hands-On Marine Services, the on site facilities which provide top notch marine service from the smallest job to full repaints and modifications.
All manner of things boating can be thirsty work and here is where a visit to the Old Chandlery Restaurant may be the order of the day www.theoldchandlery.co.uk. This fully licensed restaurant is open Tuesday to Sunday all year round and offers an excellent menu, freshly cooked dishes and roasts on Sunday are a local legend. Jerome and Chris who run this first rate establishment delight in providing quality and value un-paralled in the area. If you don't want a full meal you can relax with a drink or choose from the comprehensive snack menu.
On fine days the terrace is a lovely spot to to pass the time just soaking up the whole ambience of the place.
Also on site is to be found The Dolls House workshop which is an amazing find. Run by Chris Worthington for some 10 years now, it started life as a small craft unit but now has grown into a large operation providing a one stop shop for all things to do with Dolls Houses - from DIY kits to furniture, cutlery, lighting and even wallpaper!
From Sawley you can hire a narrow boat for your holiday with www.hireacanalboat.co.uk holidays or just for a day with Sawley Marina day hire and spend a pleasant time cruising perhaps as far as Zouch on the River Soar for a pub lunch before returning at dusk.
For the serious boater Sawley Marina is a must and for an interesting day out with a difference a visit to Sawley Marina should be on everyone's to do list.
